BMA is named Anti-Discrimination Firm of the Year: Brazil

The Social Impact Awards Americas 2024, organized by the Legal Benchmarking Group, has recognized our actions and practices aimed at reducing racial inequalities in the Brazilian legal sector.

The Awards highlighted projects such as hashtag#AfirmAção, our internship program directed exclusively to Black students, along with our traditional hashtag#SejaBMA program, where 50% of new internship positions went to young Black people. Other initiatives that caught the Legal Benchmarking Group’s attention were our in-house mentoring and ongoing program for Black professionals and our work with external consultants to conduct meetings exclusively for the Black members of our firm, with the aim of providing a safe space and discovering how BMA can create a more inclusive environment.

We know that there is still a long way to go, but we remain committed to fostering practical actions that can continue to build more plural spaces. In partnership with our external consultants, we are directing our efforts towards the retention and development of Black professionals in our office.
